We took our first trip up to the snow this season on January 6th, and went up to the south side of Donner Summit. Ben loved it! (well, at least he mostly slept through it!)
First snowshoe trip with Ben
Cerro del Osa trip
We spent a few lovely nights up at Polly & Jim’s mountain property outside of Mariposa, near Yosemite. We mountain biked over to Wawona and back in very unseasonably cold weather, and the big campfire at the end of the day warmed us all back up, just in time to go to bed.
Van Vleck, Winter 2006
Relatively fresh snow on the ground on the way in made for a 5.5 hour trek to get to the USFS Van Vleck Bunkhouse. Three feet of new snow while we were there made for an equally long, yet gourgeous, journey coming out. An incredible, secluded winter wonderland.
First snowshoe trip of the season
We finally made it up the hill and into the snow this season. Went to the south side of Echo Pass, and explored some new terrain. We’ll definitely be back, as there’s lots to explore, and no one out there once you get beyond the snow-play hill filled with sledders.
